The Same Arcanum as a Yearly Theme
In your chart, an arcanum is a fixed trait: it sits in a position and describes you for life. As the Arcanum of the Year, that same number works differently — it sets the theme for twelve months, then moves on. The general arcanum of the year is the same for everyone (the year's digits reduced: 2026 is the year of arcanum 10, “Wheel of Fortune”), while the personal one comes from your age and differs for everyone — your Yearly Forecast shows both layers.
- Arcanum 1 as a year — “The Magician” — new start, willpower
- Arcanum 2 as a year — “The High Priestess” — intuition, gathering
- Arcanum 3 as a year — “The Empress” — growth, creativity, abundance
- Arcanum 4 as a year — “The Emperor” — structure, stability, authority
- Arcanum 5 as a year — “The Hierophant” — system, mentors
- Arcanum 6 as a year — “The Lovers” — choice, partnership, love
- Arcanum 7 as a year — “The Chariot” — movement, victory
- Arcanum 8 as a year — “Justice” — balance, honest decisions

What Is an Arcanum in the Destiny Matrix
An arcanum is an archetype — a symbolic description of a personality pattern or life situation. In the classic Tarot, the 78 cards split into two groups: 22 Major Arcana (universal, global archetypes) and 56 Minor Arcana (everyday situations, emotions, small choices). The Destiny Matrix uses only the 22 Major Arcana.
Each of the 22 numbers corresponds to an archetype with its own name, symbolism, resourceful side and shadow side. A birth-date calculation gives numbers from 1 to 22 — a "map" of a person: which archetypes dominate their character, their talents, their financial patterns, their karmic tasks.
How are the 22 arcana different from the 78 Tarot cards?
The 22 Major Arcana work with big-picture life themes — who a person fundamentally is, their innate talents, their karmic tasks. The 56 Minor Arcana of the classic deck describe everyday situations and emotions. The Destiny Matrix uses only the Major Arcana — that's why a birth-date calculation only ever produces numbers from 1 to 22, never more.
Arcana in Your Chart
Everyone has several arcana in their chart — one in each position. They complement one another: one describes the core of your personality, another your financial pattern, a third your karmic tasks. The letters A, B, C, D, E on the map correspond to the 5 key positions below.
Comfort Zone — the Core of Your Personality
The main archetype of your character. Calculated as the reduction of all 4 corners of the chart. This is "who you are underneath it all" — how you perceive the world and react to life once every mask is set aside.
Portrait Zone — Your Outer Self
How people read you at first meeting. Calculated from the day of birth. The pattern you radiate: confidence, intellect, warmth — whatever the world picks up in a single glance.
Talent Zone — Your Innate Gift
The natural ability that comes easily and earns recognition. Calculated from the month of birth. It's the area where you already start out "playing on easy mode" — you just need to notice it and develop it.
Money Line — Your Relationship with Money
Your innate financial potential and money mindset. Calculated from the digit sum of the birth year. Shows where money feels "earned honestly" for you, and which income models resonate.
Karmic Tail — Unresolved Tasks
A pattern from a past incarnation that keeps repeating until it's worked through. Calculated as the reduction of the sum of the three positions above. This is your "homework": until it's resolved, it keeps returning in different disguises.
Can the same arcanum sit in more than one position?
Yes, and it's an amplifier of that archetype. For example, if Arcanum 8 "Justice" sits in both the Portrait Zone and the Money Line, the theme of fairness and balance shows up at once in a person's first impression and in their money strategy. That person lives the archetype's theme on several levels at once. It's a normal configuration — most people have some overlap somewhere in the Destiny Matrix.
